An Uncertainty Study on Traceable Frequency and Time with Disciplined Oscillators for Metrology and Financial Sectors

The use of disciplined oscillators offers a straight forward tool to establish traceability of the measurands frequency and time to national standards and ultimately to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). Traceability means that a complete and unbroken chain of calibrations exists from the measurement device to the respective standard, and that each link is characterized by a corresponding uncertainty. We discuss the commonly agreed uncertainty evaluations and place special emphasis on the application of the PTB Time Service Bulletin in this framework. We further briefly discuss aspects regarding accreditation requirements according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and financial sector regulations according to MiFID II.
