Distributed Resource Allocation for Heterogeneous MANETs with MIMO Links

In wireless networks, users with different numbers of antennas may have different transmit rates and powers, which result in different quality of experience (QoE) and performance. In this paper, we will investigate how to increase the total system throughput and energy efficiency for heterogeneous mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) with MIMO links. To address this problem, a utility function is constructed so that we can optimize the network throughput and energy efficiency by adjusting data rates and transmission powers of each terminal users. We then propose a distributed resource allocation algorithm by optimizing utility function and demonstrate its global convergence. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing ones and can also rapidly adapt to the changes in antenna array size and user density.
