Research on Extended Power Predictive Control for RMC Working in Unbalanced Power Grid Condition

Reduced matrix converter (RMC) is a new type of “green” power converter with great development potential. When RMC using a traditional control strategy working in the grid imbalance operating condition, there are grid side current distortion, power oscillation, DC bus voltage fluctuation and so on. In order to solve these problems, an extended power improved predictive control which the reactive power is expressed as dot product of the voltage with a delay of 1/4 period and the normal current signal is studied in order to control the grid-side imbalance. The simulation model is built to verify this scheme. The results show that the extended power predictive control can eliminate the grid-side current distortion caused by grid imbalance and eliminate power fluctuation, meanwhile ensure the input current sinusoid.
