Modeling An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle as A Thinging Machine

In recent years, the usage of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVS, or also known as drones) has undergone explosive growth. Problems arise from difficulties in creating a well-defined and understandable description of UAVs. The current specification of a UAV system and process results in a fragmental representation that usually leads to documentation difficulties. Engineering modeling approaches, such as the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML), and flowcharts are typically used for the development of systems in a UAV. We propose an alternative diagrammatic modeling approach in terms of a new systematic modeling technique that is applied as an abstract machine called a Thinging Machine (TM). A TM is constructed from five operations (create, process, release, transfer and receive) on things (e.g., drones, signals, servers). We present diagrams side by side to contrast some diagrammatic languages that are used in this context with the TM.
