Demand Side Management of a Stand-alone Hybrid Power Grid by Using Fuzzy Type-2 Logic Control

This work is focused on the Demand Side Management (DSM) of a building stand-alone hybrid power system that is located in the remote area by a Fuzzy Type-2 logic Controller (FT2LC). Control of the air conditioning system is based on the DSM approach by considering the batteries State Of Charge (SOC) and the temperature difference between ambient and indoor temperature. In order to enhance the airconditioners system lifespan, the Control signal applied to this appliance every ten minutes. This strategy causes uncertainties in the controller input due to constant change in the stand-alone generation and consumption. The FT2LC is an appropriate controller for uncertainty condition such as this issue. Three control scenarios are created to show the effectiveness of the proposed controller. The results reveal that the SOC and load consumption are improved considerably by using this proposed controller.
