Calculation of Core Losses in Switched Reluctance Motor with Strong Mutually Coupling Between Phases

This article presents a review of a method of magnetic or core loss calculation in a switched reluctance electrical machine with strong coupling between phases. Core losses are mostly made up of magnetic hysteresis losses and eddy-current losses. A dynamic analysis of magnetic flux in different magnetic core sections is carried out using the finite element method. A spectral analysis of changes in magnetic flux has made it possible to determine its harmonic components in the magnetic core sections. The authors propose a method for calculating magnetic losses within the magnetic core sections, which would take into account the actual type of changes in magnetic flux.
