Selection of the Most Appropriate Antiretroviral Medication in Determined Aged Groups (≥3 years) of HIV-1 Infected Children

By using the PROMETHEE technique, we have evaluated the available HIV pediatric antiretroviral drug regimens in three different groups of children which are from ≥3 years to <;6 years old, from ≥6 years to <;12 years old, and; from ≥ 12 years and older, with sexual maturity rating (SMR) 1-3. This technique is a multi-criteria decision maker that mutually compares the available options. The most frequently used antiretroviral drug regimens were used for determined aged groups and were analysed corresponding to their parameters by PROMETHEE technique. Linguistic fuzzy scale was used in order to evaluate and compare between the antiretroviral drug regimens. This scale consisted of selected parameters that possessed different weights which were determined by the experts' opinions of the field. The result of our study, indicated that the most effective antiretroviral drug regimen for children from ≥3 years to <;6 years old was raltegravir + lamivudine/zidovudine (RAL+3TC/ZDV), and for ≥6 years to <;12 years old, and from ≥12years old and older with SMR 1-3 were dolutegravir + abacavir/lamivudine (DTG+ABC/3TC).
