Identifying Participants' Characteristics Influencing Participant Estimation in Knowledge-Intensive Crowdsourcing

In knowledge-intensive crowdsourcing, estimating proper participants is an important way of ensuring tasks' outcomes. Multiple participants' characteristics have influence on participant estimation and should be considered comprehensively. Nevertheless, to the best of our knowledge, few studies particularly focused on investigating and proposing a common list of participants' characteristics. So this paper aims to investigate and identify a list of participants' characteristics that influence participant estimation in knowledge-intensive crowdsourcing. This study initially searches, filters, and analyses literatures related to the topic of this study, and subsequently extracts participants' characteristics. Furthermore, seven crowdsourcing marketplaces which are used widely to crowdsource knowledge-intensive tasks are investigated to acquire participants' characteristics presented in practical crowdsourcing systems. Combining those characteristics of participants obtained from the two aspects, the paper finally highlights five major participants' characteristics and their sub-characteristics.
