Psycho-Pedagogical Aspects Concerning The Development of the Students’ Metacognitive Competeces

Metacognition is closely related to type reflective thinking, thinking about processes, thinking about thinking. Application of metacognition in learning requires constant awareness of how we learn, the methods we use and the results they produce and estimate the effort required achieving a cognitive acquisition. This article presents the results of the focus-group applied on 12 university teaching staff. The focus-group aimed to reveal the participants' opinions, attitudes, and beliefs about the development of the students' metacognitive competences. In order to facilitate student learning, the participant teachers mentioned that will be given a special seminar presentation of memory techniques artificial elements of hygiene and ergonomics of intellectual work, the manner of the essay or offer further explanations on how to acquire concepts, showing concern for structuring material in clear, coherent logic. It emphasized the need to focus the student's positive first contact with a subject to reduce fear of new or failure. Presentation discipline of study and workload in attractive, interesting learning make the effort to be optimally dosed by students. During the educational activities, the professionals involved in the focus group promote high pedagogical qualities such as enthusiasm for the profession, confidence in students and their potential, active learning, humanism, cooperation and participation.
