Model of Restoration of the Communication Network Using the Technology of Software Defined Networks

In this paper, we analyze the reliability of a communication system using software defined networks technology using an analytical method. By means of homogeneous Markov processes with a finite number of states, the system is described under constraints. The state (i, j) in this system will be the situation when the time point t i of the SDN-switches and the j SDN-controllers are in a fault state. The time spent in one state of the system is distributed according to an exponential law. Two cases are considered: without redundancy of the SDN-controller and redundancy of the SDN-controller. As a result, for both cases, systems of equilibrium equations were compiled and solved, formulas were obtained for calculating the availability factors of the system without redundancy and with the use of redundancy. Also, the dependence of the availability factor with and without redundancy on the intensity of failure detection was obtained.
