Instrumentation for Monitoring and Analysis of Partial Discharges: Viewer and Report Generator

Measurement of partial discharges in electrical insulation of high voltage equipment is yet to be consolidated in Brazil. The IMA-DP is Cepel's solution conceived as an alternative to products offered in the market abroad. This paper reports on its new extension, the Viewer and Report Generator, which expands IMA-DP's use based on the propositions of providing both macro-level and micro-level examination and efficiently exporting measurement data. Although applicable to other electrical apparatuses, the IMA-DP has been mainly focused on hydroelectric generators and has already been used by many hydropower plants throughout the country. This update helps disseminate electric machines diagnosis by means of partial discharges in the nation and strengthen collaboration between Cepel and the electricity sector.
