Load Frequency Controller with Virtual Inertia Generator for Interconnected Power Systems via Artificial Bee Colony

This paper introduces an artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm for tuning the scaling factors of a load frequency controller with virtual inertia generator. The ABC is used to develop a proportional plus integral (PI) controller for robust operation of an interconnected power system. A linearized model for the massless energy resources was developed. A time domain objective function is solved by the ABC algorithm to find the optimal PI parameters. Simulated results show that the ABC outperforms the other algorithms to improve the interconnected power system frequency response.
