Analysis of an OFDM based Indoor Visible Light Communication System

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a digital modulation technique which it is used now in most new wireless communication systems because it is an effective solution to reduce interference inter-symbols caused by a dispersive channel. A lot of researchers have shown that OFDM is also a promising technology for optical wireless communications, such us in visible light communication (VLC). This paper explains how classical OFDM is adoapted to optical system constraints, also we describe and analyze the implementation of OFDM in visible light communication. Simulation results show that the using of linear scaling (LS) and a direct current (DC) biasing can reduce the peak to average power ratio (PAPR), finally we observe that the bit error rate BER increases as the QAM modulation order increases.
