Novel Topology of Multi-level Inverter for higher Voltage Steps

In this proposed work, a novel multilevel inverter is developed that can be operated with symmetrical voltage source as well as asymmetrical voltage sources. The proposed multilevel inverter can be used to generate any desired number of voltage levels. The number of power switches required in the proposed topology is lesser than some of the other topologies proposed in recently published research papers. Noteworthy areas such as complexity, economical cost, space required, maintenance also gets reduced due to reduction in power switches and their associate components. Generalized formulae for the proposed symmetrical as well as asymmetrical inverter is included in this paper. The results are validated using Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation technique using MATLAB/Simulink platform. The output results of symmetrical 5-level and asymmetrical 9-level inverter voltage is shown in paper.
