Evaluation of > 140-GHz Band Filter Bank Prototype

The millimeter and terahertz wave bands are being examined as a solution to the rapid increase in mobile communications traffic. Use of these frequency bands requires a spectrum analyzer supporting the millimeter and terahertz bands. In addition, development of this spectrum analyzer requires a preselector using these bands. We propose fabricating this preselector by integrating a waveguide switch and band pass filters. Our previous development successfully implemented a filter bank with a used relative bandwidth of 20% in the 300-GHz band. This article describes further developments to increase the filter-bank used relative bandwidth to 30% and describes prototype evaluation results for optimizing the design.
