Relay Station Planning Algorithm to Avoid Network Congestion for PLC Network

With the characteristics of easy deployment and low cost, PLC has good prospects in carrying broadband access services in smart grid. For the constraints of channel environment, PLC needs to use relay network to ensure reliability and real-time. Based on the idea of congestion control, this paper proposes a relay station planning algorithm to reduce the possibility of PLC network congestion, while ensuring the network reliability and fulfilling the delay requirements. With the consideration of the network reliability, N-1 principle and packet loss rate, a relay station planning model based on minimum average delay and packet loss rate is constructed and solved with the immune algorithm. Simulation results show that our algorithm can achieve higher network reliability and lower congestion probability, and improve overall network performance.
