Exponentially Tapered TEM Horn Antenna with Dielectric Support for Monopolar Input Pulses

In this paper, an exponentially tapered TEM horn antenna with dielectric support for monopolar input pulse is proposed. FR-4 substrate is used as dielectric plates with simple feed and slots are introduced in the TEM horn antenna. The characteristics of the antenna such as return loss, realized gain, E-field, radiation pattern are simulated and return loss is compared with the measured result. The -10 dB impedance bandwidth of the designed antenna is from 0.6 GHz to around 4 GHz with gain around 6 dB or above for most of the frequency range.
