Isolation Enhancement of MIMO Antennas Using Bilateral CEBG Structures

This paper presents mutual coupling reduction between, typical 5.8 GHz microstrip, antenna elements in both longitudinal and lateral directions. A bilateral complementary electromagnetic band gab structure, engraved in the ground, is used for such purpose. Four, side by side with λ

/2 separation, antennas were tested for lateral isolation before and after applying CEBG. 18 dB isolation, enhancement was achieved. For longitudinal isolation two opponent elements with O.06λ

separation were tested and 16dB enhancement was achieved.
