Coordinated Frequency and Voltage Correction via Model Predictive Control

A coordinated frequency and voltage correction approach is proposed utilizing Model Predictive Control (MPC). Trajectory sensitivities are calculated comprehensively utilizing numerical method and direct method. A coordinative optimization, with reference trajectory adjustment and reduction of control variables and constraints to enhance convergence and efficiency, is established using the trajectory sensitivities. A closed-loop and receding horizon tracking control using MPC is then established to coordinately correct voltage and frequency. As the test cases present, the proposed approach is able to effectively restore voltage and frequency to operation states coordinately, as they undergo large excursion under contingency.
