Modeling of the Power Losses and the Efficiency of a 21 MVA Superconducting Transformer

The study involves a computer model of a single-phase conventional as well as a superconducting transformer with the power of 21 MVA, developed in the PSpice program. In this model, a magnetic core made of ET114-27 Stalprodukt steel sheets is adopted, described by Jiles-Atherton level two equations. The study determines the load dependence of the losses in the iron and windings of a conventional transformer, the losses in the iron, windings and structural elements of the superconducting transformer, as well as the total losses in both types of 21 MVA transformers. Depending on the load, the efficiency of these transformers is also determined.
