The Role of Happiness in the Relationship between Social Relations and Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Happiness is among measures of sustainable development [1]. Despite the rising numbers of happiness studies, there is very little research that examines the role of happiness in the relationship between social relations and organizational citizenship behaviors (OCBs). In this study, we draw on Affective events theory (AET) and predict the positive correlations among social relations, happiness and OCBs. Findings indicated a positive relation between informal social relation and happiness, between happiness and OCBs. Results also showed the insignificant mediation of social relations' effects on OCBs via happiness. Implications for theory and practice are discussed.
