MPPT based on One Cycle Control and Temperature Method Embedded in a DSP

Photovoltaic systems have stood out among the different types of renewable energy sources because they have a good income in the production of electricity. The production of electricity is compromised when climatic changes increase the temperature or decrease the irradiance in the photovoltaic modules. Therefore, photovoltaic modules need a maximum power tracker system which is composed of a power stage and an algorithm. The purpose of this work is to present a photovoltaic system controlled by a DSP TMS320F28335 and a boost converter, so that the system tracks the module maximum power using the temperature method. According to the temperature read by the LM35 sensor, the DSP TMS320F28335 adjusts the reference voltage of a Proportional Integral controller resulting in a duty cycle value to switch the Boost converter. In this paper, boost converter switching will be performed by one-cycle control technique. The OCC switching technique provides some advantages over PWM as a rapid response to reference change, zero steady state error and input disturbance rejection. Simulated tests were performed varying climatic conditions of radiation and temperature and analyzed the operation of OCC in relation to PWM. The experimental results show that the scheme based on temperature measurement has some advantages over the Constant Voltage method using PWM modulation.
