A Penta-Band 5G/GPS Metal-Rimmed Antenna for Smartwatch Application

A penta-band 5G/GPS metal-frame antenna for modern smartwatch applications is designed and presented. The feature of the proposed antenna is that it provides a simple and effective multi-band solution for a metal-rimmed 5G smartwatch application. , With the feeding point and shorting strip placed at proper locations in the broken metal rims, the bandwidth thereof can easily cover the GPS band (1575 MHz), LTE band 7 (2500-2690 MHz), LTE bands 42/43 (3400-3800 MHz) and 4.9-GHz band (4800-5000 MHz). Detailed design considerations of the proposed antenna are described in this paper and corresponding results are also presented and discussed.
