A Wireless Energy and Thermoelectric Energy Harvesting System for a Passive Transmitter

A wireless energy and thermoelectric energy harvesting system for a passive transmitter is presented in this paper. The proposed architecture combines a rectifier, a thermoelectric energy harvesting circuit, a power management circuit and a transmitter. The rectifier is a three-stage Dickson circuit working at 915MHz. The RF to DC conversion efficiency of the rectifier is up to 47% at the -10dBm input power. Another energy harvesting circuit is designed for adaptation with the thermoelectric generator. The power management circuit controls the storage and supplement of the energy. When the voltage of the reservoir reaches to a given threshold, the power management circuit will supply the harvested energy of 14.36mJ to the passive transmitter to communicate with the receiver.
