Recent Advances in Shunt Active Power Filter with Recursive Least Square Algorithm and its Applications

The demand to use the solid state power electronic devices in industrial and domestic application has resulted in distorted current in power supply. An active filter connected in parallel based on cascade multilevel inverters is used to provide better quality of power supply. To maintain DC-link voltage and weaken the ripples in the source current, SAPF uses RLS Filter combined with Average Power Algorithm is used. The rigorous analysis of the performance of the SAPF has been modeled by using matlab simulink toolbox. Simulation result demonstrates the applicability of RLS filter for the control of SAPF.
