Micro-Grid Management Strategy with the Integration of Renewable Energy Using IoT

In this paper a renewable energy based micro-grid management strategy has been proposed to utilize the renewable energy effectively thereby reducing the energy usage from the power grid. The Renewable energy resources like solar energy from the Photovoltaic panel and wind energy obtained from the aluminum air ventilators (wind turbine) can be used to run the loads more efficiently during off-grid operation by storing these energy in a battery. Also an intelligent energy saving technique has been implemented using LDR and PIR sensors to control the base loads like Fan and Light. This system also incorporates a smart scheduling algorithm using IoT to control a schedulable load as per the needs of the consumer. This is realized by comparing the energy consumption in two modes 1) Traditional Mode 2) Automatic Mode. As a result we obtained a system with increased efficiency and reduction in overall electricity bill due to optimal scheduling and energy management.
