Wind Speed Influence Analysis on Performance of Fish-bionic Wind Wheel

In order to develop and utilize new energy, wind energy has received more and more attention. A novel type of vertical axis named the fish-bionic wind wheel (FBWW) was proposed in this paper, and the outline of wind wheel was constructed by curve of Fourier fitting and polynomial equations. The relationship between wind speed and the FBWW characteristics was determined by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation and wind tunnel test. The results show that the wind speed is in the range of 8m/s~10m/s, and the FBWW reaches the maximum efficiency. In the wind speed range of 7m/s to 13m/s, the FBWW torque shows a monotonous increase. The wind speed has a certain influence on the wind energy utilization rate of the FBWW.
