Elderly Simulation Suit as an Empathic Design Tool

The current design for age does not take into consideration the needs of the user, due to a lack of knowledge of psychical capability. This paper proposes the development of an age simulation suit, which works as a tool of empathic design, to improve the products that are focused in this sector. The suit contains within it, sensors that detect data for force, pressure and tilt angles exercisable by the human body, to obtain information that helps achieve ergonomic and anthropometric analysis, furthermore learn about the physical limitations of the elderly. Using as a basis the principles of Human Centered Design and analysis of the user experience, it takes into account psychological responses, perception, preference, and an understanding of the emotions of a user. The central part of the simulation suit is the creation of empathy which operates as a provider of experiences. It is important to start creating products taking into consideration the physical, psychological, social and emotional needs of the user, to obtain concrete data for the requirements of product design.
