Design of Weighted Circular Array for 5G Applications with Fixed Beam Forming

An antenna array plays an important role in the field of wireless communication. Uniformly weighted array faces the problem of side lobes. Weighting, shading or windowing technique suppresses the side lobes and radiates the power in the direction of desired user. In this paper different types of weighting techniques such as Binomial, Blackman, Hamming, Kaiser Bessel, Gaussian, Chebyshev have been studied and compared for uniform ciruclar array (UCA). Beamsteering is an important part of Smart antenna/MIMO technology and is useful in 5G applications. The simulation result shows that Kaiser Bessel has lowest beamwidth and highest gain.
