Attenuation Analysis of THz/IR Waves Under Different Turbulence Conditions Using Gamma-Gamma Model

The attenuation of terahertz (THz) and infrared (IR) waves under different weather turbulence conditions has been studied. The gamma-gamma model has been utilized to model the weak to the strong turbulent media, and the frequency-dependent attenuation plots for both THz and IR waves have been derived theoretically and compared to the available experimental results in the literature. Good agreement is observable from the theoretical estimation and the experimental results. In addition, the effect of the receiver aperture size has been evaluated on the attenuation of the propagated waves through turbulence. These estimated results are the good candidates for the future experimental assessments of THz outdoor wireless communication links under the different weather conditions.
