Abstract:
The modeling of power transformer faults and its application to performance evaluation of a commercial digital power transformer relay are the objectives of this study. A new method to build an EMTP/ATP power transformer model is proposed in this paper. Detailed modeling of the transformer relay is also discussed. The transient waveforms generated by ATP under different operating conditions are utilized to evaluate the performance of the transformer relay. The computer simulation results presented in this paper are consistent with the laboratory test results obtained using an analog power system model.

, "METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MONITORING A TRANSFORMER STATE"
Inventors:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for monitoring a transformer (1) state, in particular for monitoring at least one turns ratio of the transformer (1). A real winding current (l1, I2, l3, l4, l5) of at least one winding to be monitored, a real winding current change of the at least one winding to be monitored, and a real winding voltage (U1, U2, U3, U4, U5) of the at least one winding to be monitored are determined, at least one transformer (1) parameter to be monitored being determined. The invention is characterized in that at least one magnetic coupling coefficient is determined as the parameter to be monitored dependent on a dynamic current/voltage model of the transformer (1), said coupling coefficient describing a magnetic coupling between the winding to be monitored and at least one additional winding of the transformer (1), and the monitoring process is carried out dependent on the at least one magnetic coupling coefficient.
