Modelling the Ridesharing Program in the Morning Commute Problem with Parking Space Constraint

This paper extends the ridesharing model in the morning commute problem with parking space constraint. Commuters are categorized into three roles: solo driver, ridesharing driver and ridesharing passenger. The new equilibrium model is proposed to illustrate commuters' choices. The analytical results show that the scarcity of parking spaces encourages commuters to participate in ridesharing. With an increasing ridesharing rate, commuters' generalized travel cost will be reduced consequently.
