Web-based Visualization and Navigation of the Content of SNOMED CT

SNOMED CT is a standardized and comprehensive clinical reference terminology that is used in several countries around the globe to facilitate the exchange of clinical information and to support decision-making in clinical systems. The ability to navigate through SNOMED CT and visualize the structure of concepts plays a key role in SNOMED CT related applications and research studies. While on one hand, the complex structure of SNOMED CT can be difficult to navigate and visualize, on the other hand, the requirements for visualization may vary between users depending on their usage of SNOMED CT. This study explores the development of a web-based SNOMED CT browser that can be used by researchers who are frequently navigating the content of SNOMED CT and requiring the ability to download and embed images of the hierarchical and lateral relationships of a specific SNOMED CT concept.
