Spectroscopic Characterization of Er3+:LiKYF5: Judd-Ofelt Analysis and Emission Cross Sections

In the present work, we report on a spectroscopic characterization of Er
³⁺
:LiKYF
₅
crystals concerning their potential laser applications. The J-O parameters for these crystals are Ω
₂
= 0.813, Ω
₄
= 1.370 and Ω
₆
= 0.632×10

cm
²
. The radiative lifetimes of the
⁴
I
_13/2
and
⁴
I
_11/2
states are 12.4 ms and 31.8 ms, respectively. For the

_13/2

transition, the maximum mSE is 0.472×10

at 1537.4 nm.
