Analysis of the Modern State of Power Converters for Wind Turbine Systems

In recent years, renewable energy sources (RES) play an increasingly important role in the generation and distribution of electrical energy. Some renewable energy technologies, such as photovoltaics, now quite widely reported in the current literature. However, another area that needs further development and requires more attention is wind turbine systems. In order to assess future trends in this area, it is necessary to summarize and analyze the current technologies in the wind industry, including the selection of the structures of generation systems, input and output topologies of electrical energy converters. This article was performed as analytical review of existing structures for generating electrical power systems for renewable energy. An analysis of the main power characteristics of the input AC-DC converters and output DC-AC converters were carried out, also the quality of the generated electric power was estimated.
