Design of a novel 100kHz∼6GHz isotropic electric-field probe

A novel 100kHz~6GHz wideband isotropic electric field (E-field) probe, capable of accurately measuring the strength of the electromagnetic radiation, is presented in this paper. The E-field probe consists of exponential lumped resistors and a low-barrier, beam-lead Schottky detector diode. The E-field probe has the ability of measuring 0.3V/m~700V/m. The frequency response of the probe is within ±1.5 dB. The isotropic response with respect to angle, guaranteed by spatial mutually orthogonal dipole configuration, is within ±1 dB.
