Miniaturized design of CPW-Fed slot antennas using slits

A novel miniaturized design of coplanar waveguide(CPW)-fed slot antenna using slits on both sides of the slot is presented. The resonant frequency of the antenna is decreased obviously by etching slits around the slot. This letter illustrates the mechanism of miniaturization and key dimension parameter analysis. A novel antenna with 33.3% size reduction was designed. Simulation results of the antenna show that it works at 2.45GHz with 240MHz bandwidth. The radiation characteristics of the presented antenna has good omnidirectional performance which is similar to the dipole antenna.
