The future of immunity testing

In the current field of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing, in particular Radiated Immunity (RI) and Conducted Immunity (CI) testing, a majority of consumer products used in everyday life are tested to standards that require a single, swept frequency tone throughout a wide bandwidth. While this has been an accepted method for many years, threats have been constantly evolving. In the modern world, threats can include anything from the Internet of Things (IoT), communications, mobile technology, autonomous driving systems and much more. These types of signals are not defined as a single tone, but are in fact defined as complex, broadband waveforms. For consumer products to coexist with these given threats, it's important to expose them to a realistic representation of their environment.
