Simulating magnetrons with VSim

We present the visual configuration and design of an 8-cavity strapped magnetron using the VSim GUI interface. We perform cold-test analyses by exciting the device with a sinc pulse distributed current located in one of the cavities. Using the VSim data analyzers, we determine the resonant π- and 2π-mode frequencies at 0.4 GHz and 2.02 GHz, respectively. We also show the scalar and vector field patterns formed when the device operates in these normal modes.
