Symmetrical logarithmic frequency diverse array for target imaging

Frequency diverse array (FDA) employs an extra frequency increment across array elements, resulting in a range-angle-dependent transmitted beampattern. Due to this superiority against conventional phased array, FDA gains more and more attentions in recent years. To further extend FDA's application, in this study, a symmetrical logarithmic FDA configuration is proposed as transmitter to produce a range-dependent beam. And phased array is adopted as receiver in a bistatic radar system. The overall transmit and receiver array system shows its ability in range-angle target imaging. The influences of both array number and frequency increment are discussed. Simulation experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
