Modeling and stability analysis of I-TD controller for load frequency control of two-area power system using differential evolution (DE) algorithm

In this paper a new design of control scheme, Integral-Tilted-Derivative (I-TD) controller, to maintain stability under transient power load in automatic generation control (AGC). To make a successful study on the variation of output power against load demand the technique which is taken into consideration is load frequency control (LFC) by emphasizing on an interconnected power system of two areas. Differential evolution (DE) algorithm is chosen for optimized gains of the proposed I-TD controller. The corresponding performance index of the system analyzed in account of Integral Time multiply Absolute Error (ITAE) and settling time (Ts). For the same test model both TID controller and I-TD controller are implemented to analyzing the result. The research proves the superiority of proposed I-TD controller compared to TID controller in base of settling times and undershoots of tie-line power deviations as well as frequency with applied disturbance. Finally, the effectiveness of the I-TD controller over the TID controller is thoroughly demonstrated in the below power systems. The simulation results is justified the acceptance of proposed design.
