Correlated double ring channel model at high speed environment in vehicle to vehicle communications

Channel model using correlated double ring concept has been used on mobile to mobile channels. This model allows the user on the transmitter and receiver side to be able to move with each other. Previous research used this concept in mobile to mobile channels at speed 5 m/s, with the resulted Doppler frequency of 100 Hz. When transmitter and receiver move into each other in high speed, Doppler Effect will occur and break system performance. In this paper, we present the concept of correlated double ring on a vehicular channel that allows transmitter and receiver to move at high speed until 150 m/s with Doppler frequency of 2700 Hz. This channel model is applied by taking into account the scattered objects on the receiver and transmitter sides and Line Of Sight (LOS) conditions. In the calculations, this model uses the concept of sum of sinusoidal formula to determine channel model in either both Rayleigh and Rician fading conditions. The simulation results are analyzed by using probability density function and autocorrelation function on the received complex signal envelope. Compared to previous research, where probability density function done with one scatterer value at low speed condition and value of K is ranging from 0 to 9, this paper focusing probability density function in different condition of speed, starting from low speed 5 m/s until reached high speed 150 m/s with amount of scatterer is 20 and K is 1. Also, in autocorrelation analysis part, this paper show bigger amount of scatterers of up to 100 rather than previous research. Output result shows that statistical properties of the propose model matched with theoretical value. This channel model was developed in the physical layer of Vehicle Ad Hoc Network technology (VANET) especially in Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) communication.
