Short term hydro thermal scheduling using flower pollination algorithm

The application of flower pollination algorithm (FPA) is used in this work to solve the hydrothermal scheduling problem considering short term duration. This is a large-scale nonlinear dynamic optimization problem with various operating limits. FPA is a new stochastic technique, which follows the evolutionary characteristics of flower pollination. The purpose of flower pollination is to reproduce the flowering plants. This algorithm follows the levy flight mechanism for generating the population for the subsequent generation. The proposed work is illustrated and tested with standard test example and the results are compared with other optimization methods. The test results show that this optimization algorithm gives better solution with shorter processing time.
