Evaluating the effectiveness of applying the phase center for antenna measurements

The Friis transmission formula is often used for determining the antenna gain. Accurate gain measurements are required in suitable far-field ranges to avoid proximity effects between antennas. The gains of WR-3 (220-325 GHz) band horns, which require more precise measurements due to the extremely short wavelength of millimeter waves, were determined using the phase center. Experimental results and uncertainty estimations show that by considering the phase center, accurate gain measurement can be performed at shorter distances.
