Electrode temperature measurement of low temperature gliding arc discharge device

Gliding arc discharge has been widely used in various applications. However, both the gas temperature and the electrode temperature rapidly increase. Therefore, an apparatus was fabricated considering that the effective heat transfer from the electrode to the gas which could suppress the temperature increase of the electrode by raising the forced convection heat transfer coefficient. In this paper, the design of this device was introduced and high-speed camera observation, which was used to capture the discharge behavior, was synchronized with the measurement of applied voltage and current waveforms. Finally, the electrode temperature was measured with a thermography through an infrared-transparent cover and the relationship between the electrode temperature and the electrical property was evaluated.
