Design of costas loop for carrier recovery mechanism of BPSK demodulation

In digital communication system, data hauling from one chunk to another through intermediate channel. Data can be sent over a bearer through changes in its basic characteristics. Retrieving the transmitted data in receiver is very important part. This paper presents the design of Costas loop for carrier recovery mechanism of BPSK demodulation. On the basis of analyzing the mathematical models of Costas loop, digital design of Costas loop is put forward. In order to utilize resources, the digital design of LPF (low-pass filter), LF (loop filter), VCO (voltage-controlled oscillator), PD (Phase detector) and the multiplier are simulate and integrated in Xilinx. Netlist and functional simulation of digital Costas loop is done using VHDL language.
