Mathematical modeling and simulation of a thermal system using solar radiation as energy source

The paper presents the mathematical modeling and simulation of a system using a solar panel, a heat exchanger and a hot water storage tank for household consumption. Starting from mathematical equations which describe this system, the model was developed with the help of Matlab — Simulink program. As results, one can see the inlet and outlet temperatures evolution over time on primary and secondary circuits for the heat exchanger, equivalent temperature, temperature at the base of the water tank and the system's power supplied. The results were compared with other results from other software available for solar energy systems. The model could be extended for other systems including hybrid heating systems and simulated for real specific meteorological weather conditions with measured solar intensities.
