Continuous and discontinuous SVPWM 2L+2M for asymmetrical dual three-phase drives

Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques are used in power converters to generate variable voltages (amplitude and frequency) for various purposes. One of them is for inverter fed multiphase drives, and among them the asymmetrical dual three-phase machine. In this paper, a set of SVPWM (Space Vector PWM) techniques is introduced for 6-phase converters feeding double three-phase independent machine windings (isolated neutral). These techniques allow the generation of sinusoidal phase voltages, achieving the highest possible modulation index, and keeping limited the number of commutations. In addition, its PWMMIN and PWMMAX discontinuous variants are presented, widely known in the literature for others number of phases.
