A study of the integration of Distributed Generation and EVs in smart cities

Nowadays, the transition to a more sustainable energy and transport system is necessary. This work faces this theme at a district level, considering a residential neighborhood of a big metropolitan area and proposing a model for a Smart Residential District. The optimum quantities of installed power are calculated thanks to an optimization procedure based on a Genetic Algorithm: a non-deterministic technique allowing to reach the global optimum in a fast way and without strong computational efforts.
