Design of an OOK IR-UWB front-end for biomedical devices

An Impulse Radio Ultra Wide Band (IR-UWB) On Off Keying (OOK) non-coherent receiver for biomedical devices is presented in this study. The proposed receiver is operated on a 3-7GHz frequency band. It is made up of resistive feedback low noise amplifier, a buffer and an OOK demodulator. The squarer absence explains the good performance of the LNA. Implemented in 180 nm CMOS technology, the receiver presents a good energy efficiency of 0.072 nJ/bit and achieves 250 Mbps wireless OOK data transmission. The simulated receiver exhibits good performances and allows a flexible movement of pulses through its different blocks without distortion.
